Same room, better clouds.

Our trip to Arenal volcano.

What a beautiful (l-o-n-g) ride!
They're building a new highway bridge.
It's not done yet.  When it's done,
it will STILL be a long ride!

Lots of Waterfalls, rivers
and lush green forest.

1999-003

Hot springs at the foot of the volcano.
1999-004

Arenal volcano, as we would have seen "IF" the bridge had been finished!
1999-005

What we ACTUALLY saw (after 3-hours in a cab).
All because the bridge wasn't finished.
But we did get to HEAR & FEEL it!
1999-006
Note:
Best to get there before the noon fog, which will be possible once the bridge is finished.

For the obligatory drill, our muster station was in the BAR!
(Somebody "tipped" the crew about this family, I'm sure.)

Being At Sea, inside.

Being At Sea, outside.
1999-009

When everything is right in the world.
1999-010

And when it's not. [lost a passenger, no?]
1999-011

Some of the local inhabitants. The moneys acted like they wanted the camera.
1999-012

This macaw ran us around before allowing its picture to be taken.
1999-013

Everybody helps everybody with equipment...
1999-014

..........mask, snorkel & fins.
1999-015

JoAnn & Joan assist Peggy with the fine art of entering the surf with fins.
They are both soooo supportive and helpful.
1999-016

Until things don't work-out as planned.
Then the criminals flee laughing....leaving poor Peggy to drown!
1999-017

Gotta have a banana boat picture!
1999-018

Some took an island tour, placing all trust in the crew's abilities.
1999-019

Absolutely Beautiful!
1999-020

And our favorite coffee roaster, Cafe Milagro.

We brought back so much coffee from here
we thought we'd get busted at the border.

But, they deserve a plug here, now that
the bridge is done and they can ship coffee.

We now order all our coffee on-line at:

1999-021

Some took to the canopy.
1999-023

Some took a hike.
1999-022

The divemaster & Rick rushing back
from a dive for the crew's required
"Man Overboard" drill.
1999-024

Only lost one tourist the whole trip...
...during the crew's "Man Overboard" drill.
1999-025

As one of the ship's officers put it: "Well, that was embarrasing!"
1999-026

Joan's in there, somewhere.   Havin' FUN, too!
1999-027

We have NO idea what made this, but it plays in the sand
and lives on Tortuga Island.
1999-028

What can one do while while waiting for dinner? How about egg tricks.
1999-029

Anybody into fork tricks?
1999-030

Last Night:   One had a dive log to fill-out...
1999-031

...others had drinks.   DUH!
