The PICTURES (38)
First Things First. Happy Birthday, Mom.
1998-001

Zodiaks take us to the private island, and a wet landing.
1998-002

After finding the little foot path that led across the island, and walking it,
we found our private beach.
1998-003

Rick & Joan spent most of their time in the water, snorkeling.
1998-004

And taking some pictures.
1998-005

Actually, lots of pictures.
1998-006

One of my two favorite pictures of the trip.
1998-007

This is the other one.
1998-008

Joan (and the Marines) have landed on this shore of Grenada.
Whereas the Marines "landed" where there was no land (communications error),
We had the advantage of a tender driver that actually had a map.
1998-009

Of course, the day we landed was the hottest day of the year.
Many turned back. We carried on to find the Batik Factory. Which we did.
Then we headed back to the boat, but not before declining to buy nutmeg (several times).
1998-010

Outdoor BBQ night with entertainment. We were asked to wear something festive.
Well, I had this brand new batik T-Shirt. It was that or some other T-shirt.
1998-011

I think I must have won the "Best Festive Wear Award", or something like that.
1998-012

Then they struck up the band.
1998-015

What may indeed go down as the happiest party picture, ever.
1998-013

And one that wll go down as something else.
1998-014

At Sea, means "On Deck".
1998-016

It also means sun.
Looks like Joan may be trying to get an all-over tan... but it's just the camera angle.
1998-017

For the bakery chefs, At Sea means food carving and bread crafting demonstrations.
1998-018

I ate this turtle at dinner.
1998-019

Drinking away an At Sea day is always acceptable, starting after 10-am.
1998-020

Lookie Here! Only Rick & Jim are paying attention to the proper way to fold arms.
1998-021

Who would have guessed the skipper would be in need of piloting tips from Rick & Peter.
1998-022 1998-023

Castries, St. Lucia
On our way to Martinique, we sailed past the southern-most tip of St Lucia
and the most recognised feature: The Petons. It was very windy that day,
but the Captain (with Peter & Rick's help), got us extremely close.
1998-024 1998-025

While at the helm, this is what Peter & Rick were aiming for.
We were told by the Captain that this little speck-on-a-map, from such a great distance,
would truely test our seamanship skills.
If we stayed on course, we'd also be allowed to dock the ship.
The Captain docked the ship that day.
1998-027

Upon arrival, a bit of scuba diving.
Our divemasters.
A boat-load of people on the "wrong" boat.
I think the other boat had more fun.
1998-030 1998-033

I'm sure of it, now!
1998-031

I really don't think I said anything wrong.
It seems I'm catching hell for thinking I wish I was on the other boat.
There were others thinking that way too!
1998-032

Downtown.
In the rainforest.
It didn't rain a drop while we were there.
1998-028 1998-029

Ahhh, a beach and a horse.
1998-034

A beach from above.
1998-026

And, a beach BBQ.
1998-035

It LOOKS easy.
1998-036

Fun too.
1998-037

As the sun sets on our beach,
so too it sets on our cruise ship
...and cruise.
